WP Blogging Client's Web Site Development: Part 3

Step 4: Tweaking the Prototype

After reviewing the finished working model of her web site, Deborah e-mails to ask if she can make a few adjustments, including changing the font of her site's header to match the organization's letterhead, and using a personal photo of a rescued dog on the site.

Because the font in Deborah's letterhead is unique, we ask her to provide the TrueType font file used in her letterhead. This update truly customizes the site and ties in well with F.O.U.N.D.'s existing marketing materials.

Deborah follows up with a second e-mail to ask if she can replace her telephone number on the web site with an e-mail address, since the organization uses her personal telephone number to do business. This is common in smaller home-based businesses.

Step 5: Configuring the Site's Domain

The next is to configure the site's domain for public viewing. Deborah had already registered a domain, friendsofdogs.org, so redirecting her domain was a quick and easy process.

Deborah has Sandy Batistatos, a tech-savvy friend and vice president of F.O.U.N.D., e-mail to update the domain settings. Within moments the domain is active, allowing Web Presence to finalize the site's remaining technical aspects.

Step 6: Adding Links & Customizing the Discussion Forum

After reviewing a final version of the design, Deborah e-mails with a set of hyperlinks for her link library and a short story about the dog in her photo, Leo. These additions fill out the site and provide additional resources to first-time and returning F.O.U.N.D. visitors.

Sandy e-mails to learn more about using the message forum, and how she can advertise F.O.U.N.D.'s events and activities to other forum visitors.

Step 7: Wrap-Up

After a final walk-through of the site and checking for any last minute revisions, the site is ready for visitors. The site is now complete and ready to share F.O.U.N.D. with the world.
